French Teens Encouraged to Read Daily News

In an innovative move, French President Nicolas Sarkozy will provide teenagers a free, yearlong subscription to any general news daily of their choice when they reach their 18th birthday. He noted that developing the habit of daily reading begins when people are young.

What a great way to encourage young people to keep up with the daily news.

He also is increasing ninefold, state support for all French news deliveries and doubling its annual print advertising outlay in a move to strengthen that countries print media.

These changes are to take place next month.
